Photographed Monday July 21, 1969 and published with the article copied below in The Times Herald Record of Middletown, NY the following day, this sign was nailed to a fencepost alongside route 17B a mile or so west of Max Yasgur's dairy farm. Despite the public protest, that Monday night the Bethel Town Zoning Board approved Woodstock Ventures' plan to hold a three day event on the 600 acre farm. The sign was facing WEST to be seen by residents traveling EAST from Callicoon and Jeffersonville. That is why this is the only published photograph of this relic.
